On Small Business Saturday, downtown Waynesville was bustling with shoppers.

The Haywood County Arts Council even hosted a small business pop-up shop for several artists and vendors who don’t normally have storefronts, including two non-profits. Haywood Community College’s Small Business Center teamed up with the Arts Council to make the pop-up shop happen.

“What a great way to celebrate small businesses with Small Business Saturday, to give them a chance to get on Main Street. So, these are independent merchants that don’t have a storefront. This is their one day to have a storefront, and for us to celebrate what they bring to the community,” sid Katy Gould, director of HCC’s Small Business Center.

Haywood community college’s small business center is one of 58 in the state and offers its resources to small businesses free of charge.
